Vazio!

Vazio! – meaning "empty" or "emptiness" in portugese was a  graffitto to be found a lot during the financial crisis. Is was sprayed on houses left empty by their owners.

The visitors enter an empty red room, empty drawers hanging from the ceiling. Only a few traces on the wall show that once there have been pictures.

The visitors are given a small blue light to search for traces of life. They can see parts of the pictures in the blue light. They can see what was once stored in the drawers.

A box labeled “Vazio” stands in the middle of the room. If you shake the box vigorously, the room turns blue. For a short time, you can see everything as it used to be: the pictures on the wall, the objects in the drawers...
No photos, all comic style. Retro illustrations.

Then everything fades again. The room is empty.

Vazio! is an interactive project about abandoned houses, about traces of life you find there.
And eventually about humans and their similarities.

Realized on noc noc festival in Guimarães, 2016 (?)
